This website is devoted to examining and influencing the Iowa legislature. Specifically, we take a libertarian perspective on the legislature's actions and seek to elect libertarians to serve in the legislature.
While the legislature is in session, you will find frequent updates under “Bills in the current session”. Here you can learn about some of the more important bills, from a libertarian perspective. Commentary on the strengths and weaknesses of these bills, as well as their apparent prospects for passage, will be included. There will also be links to the text of the bill and other potentially useful off-site information.
Also while the legislature is in session, we will sometimes issue “action alerts” on bills of particular importance and on which there is agreement to make a particularly strong lobbying effort. Details, including “talking points”, will be plentiful.
We also provide guidance on how to go about lobbying and how to find your legislators and their contact information.
In addition, this site includes information about the Iowa Libertarian Legislature Fund and how it operates, who runs it, and how you can help.
And finally, the site includes information for the prospective Libertarian candidate. Whether an active, high-profile campaign is planned or simply a paper candidacy to help fill out the ballot, virtually any candidate will find this information useful.
